Scaling and Deploying OpenSplice DDS over a Wide Area Network Webcast December 14 2010

An increasing number of systems are built integrating subsystems deployed in different geographical locations and connected by a WAN of some form. To provide a characterization of these systems we can visualize at one extreme of the spectrum those systems built integrating a few relatively sizable subsystems, while at the other end of the spectrum those systems built by gluing together a large number of subsystems, simple computing nodes, sensors and actuators.
OpenSplice DDS is swiflty becoming the technology of choice for building many of these systems, due mainly to its powerful set of abstractions and its rich support for QoS capable of controlling the end-to-end properties of data distribution. Yet the tools and techniques available to build such systems are not always known by mainstram users of OpenSplice DDS.
This Webcast will (1) introduce the key challenges that have to be addressed when building, scaling and deploying systems based on OpenSplice DDS over a WAN, (2) it will provide an overview of the specific extensions that OpenSplice DDS supports to deal with WAN deployment up to Ultra-Large-Scale Systems, and (3) it will highlight how these features can help supporting the key use cases.
The Webcast will be presented by industry leading expert Angelo Corsaro, Ph.D., OpenSplice DDS CTO, PrismTech. Dr. Corsaro is a much-respected figure in the distributed real-time and embedded (DRE) systems middleware community and co-chairs the OMG DDS Special Interest Group.
