* Understand the data-centric design paradigm,
* Learn how to design extensible and efficient Data Distribution Service (DDS) data models.

The early days of any big technology innovation, such as the introduction of Object Orientation, are characterized by debates among architects and programmers on how to best use the technology. For some time, before the architectural principles and key patterns become widely understood, several adopters end-up using the new technology following the same patterns used for whatever they were using before. To continue the parallel with Object Oriented programming languages, how many programmers have you seen in the early days using Object Oriented programming languages but not writing Object Oriented applications?

DDS is no exception to this rule, and as a result there are still a large number of professionals that use DDS as if it was simply a better messaging technology thus missing some of its key advantages.

This webcast will explore the two major innovations brought by DDS to facilitate the design, development and deployment of high-performance, highly available, loosely coupled, extensible distributed systems - data-centricity and the request/offered quality of service (QoS) framework. The webcast will explain the key concepts behind data-centricity and provide the key architectural principles and patterns that guide the definition of data-centric architectures. The webcast will clearly explain why DDS and data-centricity provide far more powerful abstraction than messaging for architecting distributed systems and it will explain how new standards, such as the Extensible and Dynamic Topic Types, play a key role in designing extensible data-centric systems.

The webcast will be presented by industry leading expert Angelo Corsaro, Ph.D., OpenSplice DDS CTO and co-chair of the OMG DDS Special Interest Group.
