Webcast Presenter:

Angelo Corsaro, Ph.D. CTO PrismTech / ADLINK and co-chair of Object Management Group's Data Distribution Service (DDS) Special Interest Group.

Why Attend:

* Learn about the key requirements and challenges of effective data collection and sharing in resource constrained environments
* Understand why existing protocols are ill suited to address these constrained environments
* Learn about an upcoming standard that is defining the most wire-efficient and feature rich protocol available yet and get a chance to influence its future

Recent innovations in Low-Power Wireless Personal Area Networks (LoWPAN) and Low-Power Wide Area Networks (LPWAN) are enabling connectivity for a large class of applications that previously could not afford the cost of or the power implications.

These innovations in networking have not been matched by innovations in the higher-level protocols used to collect/share data. As a result, applications that leverage these low-power networks are often crafting custom messaging layers.

DDS-XRCE (DDS for eXtremely Resource Constrained Environments) is an upcoming standard that aims to provide a zero-cost high level data-sharing protocol for these constrained environments.

This webcast will explain the unique technical challenges introduced by constrained environments and (1) explain why existing standards are seldom applicable, (2) introduce DDS-XRCE and explain how it optimally addresses constrained environments, and (3) provide a comparison with existing constrained protocols such as CoAP.
