I know that it is possible to implement kind of client server or commands interface, but it does not looks natural.
Am I wrong? Does anyone use DDS as a replacement to CORBA?

DDS by nature is asynchronous because of it's publish/subscribe architecture.

But some systems demand synchronous calls too. Every now and then, some application, especially the GUI applications require some response immediately after a command.

I also wonder what are the best practices for handling such situations with a DDS only system?

Please find attached a small write-up on how you could pretty easily model synchronous behavior on top of DDS.

Maybe that helps a little
